Playing Catch-up
OMG - was the last post really in January??!! I knew I'd been slack - but didn't realise the last post was quite so long ago.
I guess a lot should have happened since then - but for the life of me, can't think of much.
I'm currently in a different role at work, filling in for someone on maternity leave. I'm helping with the website and intranet, which has been good. Sort of dreading the day when I have to go back to admin in September - but we'll see what happens.
John also started a new job - working in a IT helpdesk role, which although is still a call centre - is a step in the right direction for the role he eventually wants. His study is going well too.
We got a new puppy 2 weeks ago, called Jasper. He is a direct brother to Sam and a half brother to Charlie. He's fitted in really well, and gets on well with Charlie too, although I think Charlie gets a bit sick of him sometimes (payback, I guess, for him being a pain for Sammy).

Haven't gotten too far with the wedding plans - aside from deciding we're having it in New Zealand in 2010. Just a reminder to those who are coming to try to book accommodation early. The wedding will be the Wednesday before the easter long weekend - which will also be the International Air Show (which will be held in the town we're having the wedding). Sort of a pain, but we've decided it shouldn't be too much of an issue if we plan ahead.
We went to the Million Paws Walk again this year. It was a bit strange not having Sammy there, but I think Charlie enjoyed it.
I've also been quite busily doing my crochet - though I can't think where I've saved the photos - so I'll have to have a look for those a bit later.

A little crochet something...
This weekend I was very productive - crochet wise. I made 2 baby jumpers and a little matching bunny.
The red and white jumper and bunny are for a girl at work who is having a baby. She's a knitter/crocheter too... and I knew she'd be making her own baby blanket, so thought I'd make something different.
I was so impressed by how quick these were - the jumper only took about 4 hours - start to finish! The only thing is I haven't bought buttons for the red/white jumper yet... so that will have to wait until later in the week.

'Twas the Month After Christmas
Someone sent this to me via email, but I thought it would be appropriate to put up here... to share with everyone else who over-ate at Christmas!
'Twas the Month After Christmas
'Twas the month after Christmas, and all through the house
Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse.
The biscuits I'd nibbled, the champagne I'd taste
All the holiday parties had gone to my waist.
When I got on the scales there arose such a number!
When I walked to the store (less a walk than a lumber).
I'd remember the marvellous meals I'd prepared;
The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared,
The wine and the rum balls, the bread and the cheese
And the way I'd never said, "No thank you, please."
As I dressed myself in my partner's old shirt
And prepared once again to do battle with dirt
I said to myself, as I only can
"You can't spend all Summer disguised as a man!"
So-away with the last of the sour cream dip,
Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip
Every last bit of food that I like must be banished
'Til all the additional ounces have vanished.
I won't have a biscuit - not even a lick.
I'll want only to chew on a long celery stick.
I won't have hot scones, or cake, or fruit pie,
I'll munch on a carrot and quietly cry.
I'm hungry, I'm lonesome, and life is a bore
But isn't that what January is for?
Unable to laugh, no longer a riot.
Happy New Year to all and to all a good diet!

The Christmas Rush is Over
I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas. It was so great being back in Darwin to see everyone again - although I now remember why we left in the first place. I don't think we could ever get used to the humidity again.
Below is the blanket I made for Elke & Chris' new baby, Bowie. He's such a cutie!!

I also finally finished a little doll I've been working on for a couple of weeks:

Good Weekend
John and I had a pretty good weekend this weekend. It was a nice quiet, relaxing one.
On Saturday, we took Charlie to the beach where he went swimming. Now that he's learnt, it's like we can't stop him! He also (sort of) fetches when he can swim to get it, but doesn't really like fetching on the sand.

Today we went to the Golden Retriever Club of SA fun day which was pretty good too, because we got to catch up with everyone again. Charlie won the retrieving game (I'm sooo amazed) and also the best costume - not so much for what he was wearing (which was cute - but not anything flashy) - but because of his sleigh - which he wouldn't pull.... and a wheel fell off, but that didn't end up mattering :o)
We also found a good use for the sleigh and managed to get some Christmassy photos of the puppies in it.

The photos weren't great because they kept trying to jump out and I had to take them really quickly.

Update
Ok, so I've been REALLY slack in updating this. I just haven't really been all that enthused... but we do have a bit of news I guess I should share...
John and I are now engaged!
I know what you're thinking.... FINALLY... well I guess you can blame Lian and Laurent because helping them plan their wedding was just too exciting.
Anyway, below is a photo of my ring :o)
I probably need to do a quick update on my crochet projects - although I haven't finished many, but started plenty. Below is a baby blanket I made for a lady at John's work. I'm doing the same pattern again, but in different wool, for someone at my work too.
On Sunday we went to the Brackendell Christmas Party. It was nice to catch up with (and meet) everyone. Charlie had lots of fun running around crazy with the other dogs.
