Zoo-ology

John and I have had most of the week off (John had whole week, I had from Wednesday). Wednesday we didn't do much, but the last couple of days has been really good.

Yesterday was great. We actually went back to the zoo - finally! We've been saying we need to go back for AGES and AGES but have been resistant to going on the weekend. We figured - second week back at school on a week day should be quiet enough - and we were right.

We actually managed to see some of the animals get fed. We saw the gorillas, lions and fairy penguins during their feeding, which was good because we normally miss all of those things.

One I didn't get to see, and would love to is the macaw flight. Last time we went we had just missed it, but I'm not sure if they do that anymore - it wasn't on the internet.

What a Wild Week

Today we spent the day at Monarto. We finally did the walks (all but one because it was closed). They've changed them so they're no longer guided - you can do them by yourself. It was so much better and I can't wait for the cheetah walk to be opened. The zoo was really good, but it was pretty cool today because we got to hand-feed a giraffe and pat a rhino. The rhino was sooo cute!

Inside the house

We were able to pick up a "construction key" today. We've got the window furnishing people coming out to do the measurements tomorrow, so we thought we'd take the opportunity to sneak in this afternoon and have a quick nosy around.

It's looking good. Unfortunately, they didn't do a lot last week - so we only got to see stuff we'd already seen through the window, but it was good walking around and being able to have a close look.

We were hoping that they might finish early because they'd done so much work so quickly, but it seems like they're dragging it out now - although someone did tell me that it feels like nothing is happening when it's locked up - so who knows. Maybe they're doing behind the scenes work.

They've still got the wrong doors for the living/dining at the house. I was hoping they'd at least have the proper ones delivered, but not yet. Hopefully they get this this week - then I'll be a bit happier, knowing something's happening.

Mum, dad, Lian and Laurent get back from Vietnam/Singapore tomorrow. I can't wait to talk to them again. It still sucks that I missed out on Karen's wedding, but we just didn't have the money to go this year.

I look forward to seeing some photos from their trip.

Richard - Good luck with your exams!! See you when they're over :o)
