Another Dog Post

Because nothing interesting really happens in our lives, here is a quick update on what we've been doing.

Last weekend we took the boys to the dog park, which they always love. Sam was obsessive about his ball (to the point of ignoring every other dog and person at the park) whilst Charlie just wanted to play.

Today we took them to the beach at O'Sullies where they get to run free and be total nutters as normal. Besides doing the usual (throwing Sam's ball and chasing after Charlie - who chased after everyone else) we walked down to Christies where we had lunch at a cafe, then sat in the park while our tummies settled. It was such a lovely day - weekend actually (but we had to make up for it today because we spent just about all Saturday indoors - I had volleyball most of the day - and we tried to catch up on house work).

Totally Floored

Some of you may know about our little incident with Charlie eating the floor in our rented house (lino must taste lovely!)

Anyway, John and I got the go-ahead from the landlords to put down new flooring, and being the tight-arses that we are, we thought it might be a good idea to do it ourselves. So this weekend past we set to work laying our new floor.

Saturday was pretty much a write-off because of volleyball (although we did managed to spend some money at Bunnings), but bright and early Sunday morning we got up to tackle it. We had failed, however, to take into account the difficulties of laying the floor with such a weird-shaped area. Luckily for us though, Darren let us borrow some of his powertools and other bits and pieces - or we could still be doing it today.

Anyway, after working on it all day Sunday, and half of Monday (we both had Monday off work) we managed to get it finished. We both found muscles we never knew existed and have bruised knees and sore buttocks from all the kneeling and squatting we had to do.

In order to prove to those disbelievers that we did it, I've taken some work-in-progress shots, as well as the finished product. We also have the war scars to show for it! (Not counting the rolled ankle courtesy of Saturday's volleyball game, we have multiple bruises and scratches as well as managing to cut myself with the stanley knife, and John nearly giving himself a blood blister when he hammered his finger).

Unfortunately the job is not quite done (we need to seal the edges) and the house still looks like crap - but it is 100% better than before!!
