Christmas 2006

We had Paul, Jo, Caitlin, Beth and Peter around for breakfast on Christmas Eve. Then on Christmas day we went to Paul & Jo's for lunch, then to Darren and Sarah's place for dinner. As usual, there was way too much food and we all ate until we were stuffed. The boys were very spoilt this year. They each got 4 presents... but I think they liked them. Then they got to play with Maud'dib when we went to Darren and Sarah's place. I think they were already pretty tired though because they weren't quite as crazy as usual.

Merry Christmas to All!!

Here's hoping everyone has a fantastic Christmas and a brilliant New Year!

Considering this year John and I are on a budget with the house and all, and we said we're not going to get anyone presents this year, we've still managed to fill out under the tree pretty well... and only 3 of those are for people!! There are going to be some very spoilt dogs this Christmas.

Sam & Charlie's first visit

We took Sam and Charlie to the block for the first time today. They went mental! They were so excited. I don't know if they thought we were going to visit someone, or if they were just excited because it was something new.

We had the aircon guy come 'round to do up a quote for us. Should be interesting to see how much it's going to cost. Hopefully cheaper than what Rossdale quoted us, or at the least, no more expensive.

The plaster also finished up, so it looks pretty good. I can't wait for them to start doing the inside, but I don't think that's likely to happen before the new year (unfortunately). I guess I shouldn't complain, because it's not that far away.

There's a kind of hush...

The insulation has gone in. It's pretty cool now, because the rooms actually look like rooms (you can't see through the whole house).

Hard Yakka

This morning we had an early start to put in the networking in the house. Darren came to help us, and as it was forecast to be 39°C we thought we'd better get an early start.

Darren came to pick John up at 7:30 and I drove in our car down to the block. Most of the brickwork is finished now, so it's pretty exciting - especially knowing that they're starting the inside of the house next week.

We put networking into all the bedrooms and the living room, and put extra TV cable into the other 2 bedrooms.

It only took us about 2hrs, which was great, and with a bit of breeze it wasn't even that hot.

It's starting to look like a house!

Most of the bricks are up now and it's starting to look like a house. The pipes and cables are in, so it's pretty cool being able to walk around and see where the powerpoints and light / light switches are going to be. John and I will go there on the weekend to do a bit of work before the gyprock goes up. I can't wait!

Bricks 'n' Mortar

The brickwork has started. It's actually coming all together now.

We went past after work today, and there was a van out the front, so we kept driving (didn't want to get in the way). Unfortuately, when we went back to the block, all the electrical wiring was in. As it turned out, we missed the electrician, which sucks, because we were going to ask them to put in the powerpoints for the downlights.

We'll see what happens. Don't think he'll be back until the gyprock is up - but if he's there tomorrow, I'll ask him about it.

The roof is on

It's hard to tell from the photo, but it's a dark green/grey. The walls are supposed to be going up this week, which is exciting.
